Elissa Jeffers joined Social Media Victims Law Center as an attorney in 2025. She is a passionate litigator who has a broad background in civil, appellate, and civil rights advocacy. Prior to joining SMVLC, she litigated commercial, intellectual property, and consumer disputes in “Big Law.” Simultaneously, she maintained a robust pro bono docket, advocating for LGBTQ+, reproductive, and immigrant rights.
Elissa earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School where she was very active in student organizations. She also dedicated much of her third year to representing indigent clients before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals as a Student Attorney in the Criminal Appellate & Post-Conviction Services Clinic. For four years before law school, Elissa worked as a legal assistant with various organizations in Illinois. In Lambda Legal’s Midwest Regional Office, she assisted in federal and state impact litigation, advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV.
